Around the world, every year, millions of dollars are spent on new electronic gadgets and appliances for our homes. It’s a huge market. Manufacturers compete every day to produce products that will make our lives easier and better in some way, all hoping to come up with a winning product that really takes off. The kitchen/food market is one of the biggest going, with the kitchen fast becoming the most technologically advanced room in our homes. People have become so obsessed with food, and more so with making sure that they’re eating healthily, that they rush out to buy any product that aims to help.

It’s no wonder, then, that the Philips Air Fryer has become so successful during its relatively short life, as it encompasses everything that we look for in a new kitchen gadget. It’s easy to use and cooks food quickly, but perhaps most importantly of all it produces healthy food that the whole family will enjoy eating.

We all know that fried foods are bad for us, and any health conscious person would have dropped them from their diet long ago. They’re full of saturated fats that can cause weight gain and raise our cholesterol levels, which in turn can lead to serious heart trouble and other long-term health issues. So, it’s no wonder that all sensible advice warns us off eating them – but the trouble is, they taste too good. The Air Fryer cooks these sorts of foods in such a way that they still taste and have the same texture as fried food, but as it uses no extra oil or fat they’re far more healthy for us to eat.

So, how does the Philips Air Fryer work? Well it’s really quite simple – while the food cooks, it’s blasted by a constant stream of superheated air that’s circulated around the inside of the machine at a very high speed. The continual movement of the air dries out the surface of the food as it cooks, leaving it with its crispy ‘fried’ texture. All sorts of foods can be cooked in an Air Fryer – chips (French fries), steaks and other meats, vegetables, ‘deep fried’ fish… and as it works in a similar way to a conventional oven, it can also be used to roast foods, jacket potatoes, and even bake cakes and cookies!

The circulating hot air helps the cooking process, meaning that most foods cook far quicker in the Air Fryer than they would in a regular oven, with some meats and vegetables cooking in half their normal required time. The inside of the fryer can be segregated into compartments so that you can cook an entire meal in one go, and all the components are coated in a non-stick Teflon covering making them easy to clean after use.

Loads of thought has been put into the design of the Philips Air Fryer, making it not only incredibly simple to use but also a stylish addition to any kitchen. It’s on sale now in most home electrical stores, but the best deals (as always) can be found by using a price comparison website and buying online.

Coffee is one of the stuff that completes my day. I cannot end a day without having a nice cup of coffee. So I tried to look for some coffee makers that would make me a nice piece of coffee, especially for working long hours and staying up late at night working.

I need a coffee maker that would make me a coffee that is similar to what I got on coffee shops. It should be at the same taste the same creaminess and flavor, so I search for a nice piece of single cup coffee makers and here’s what I got.

Black & Decker DCM18S Brew ‘n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug Review

What I like on this single cup coffee is the convenience that a coffee is directly brewed to a single mug. I could just pick it up and go. This is perfect for an office guy like me.

Product Features

I got personal coffeemaker brews directly into my 15-ounce travel mug

I got a stainless-steel mug tapered to fit most vehicle cup holders

Because of its auto shut-off I can leave it and it automatically shuts itself

I got a dishwasher-safe mug, mug lid, filter, and filter basket

It measures 9-3/4 by 7 by 6 inches

A 1-year warranty

Black & Decker DCM18S Brew ‘n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug Specifications

This is what I like; it is a personal coffeemaker that brews 15 ounces of coffee directly into a stainless-steel travel mug. Perfect for office guys like me and this is great also for students, commuters, and those who are working on a fast pace.

I like the mug because it has a rubber handle for a safe grip and a lid to keep coffee hot. It’s tapered to a 2-1/2-inch-diameter bottom, so it fits most vehicle cup holders.

Another thing that I like on this one is that it has a permanent filter so I won’t need a messy disposable paper filter and it shuts off automatically after brewing. The mug, filter, filter basket, and mug lid are dishwasher-safe so no hassles on my cleaning. Another thing is that the coffeemaker can also be used to heat water for my tea, hot chocolate, and instant foods like oatmeal and soup. It is made of gleaming black plastic, it measures 9-3/4 inches high, 7 inches wide, and 6 inches deep, perfect for me because I usually love to eat noodles at midnight while I am doing office work on my computer. It carries a one-year warranty against defects so I can return it when problems occur.

Pros:

It is Inexpensive to operate

It uses any ground coffee

It has 15-ounce serving size

It Includes stainless-steel travel mug

It has a permanent filter

Cons:

My coffee grounds can overflow the filter

It has no programmable features

As I look around and survey this product, I have seen different reviews from different costumers that were very helpful to me.

Here’s one from Scott Pointon a Former Marine, Librarian, Woodworker, Home brewer

He said that he bought this coffeemaker for home about 2 months ago and he I love it. It became very convenient for him. He was able to quickly brew coffee for just one person.

The only thing that leaves him a bit unsatisfied is the size of the mug he said he would want it to be bigger, but it’s not a serious problem for him.

Here’s another one from Edward Miller -

He said he had a problem with the bottom of the coffee maker. He said it would probably be good if the bottom is molded so that the water had to flow uphill to move along the base of the maker. He also said that a dish under the coffee maker makes it easier to keep the counter clean.

For my summary, this product is highly recommendable. I would recommend this to my friends who are as busy as I am. I will also recommend this to commuters, office professionals, and one-coffee-drinker households.

It has functionalities that I can just leave there and it works all by itself. With its automatic shut off and its timer, this thing works great.

Cons:

It has weak brew

The pods are more expensive than ground coffee not good if you are on a budget

The pods are disposable

As my review on this product continues to progress, I have found some helpful reviews that might help us as we consider this product.

Here’s one from “the matt hatter”

In his review, he said that after comparing between the Keurig line of B40, B50, and B60 models, the Tassimo, and the Senseo. He finally has chosen eh B6 because the B60 is the only model that brews 3 different sizes of coffee; it has 5.25, 7.25, and 9.25oz.

The problem with getting a new one was that the confusion of prices ranging from around $15 up to $200 had stopped me in my tracks.

I needed to see what set them apart!

Why would people pay a couple hundred bucks for a coffee maker that could be had for under $20? (spoiler alert – my eventual selection is revealed after my review)

Features I CANNOT BEND, whichever machine I ended up with, it HAD TO HAVE THESE TWO:

programmable – need to set the unit up the night before, have it begin brewing 10 minutes before my alarm goes off

interruptible – need to be able to grab a cup before it has finished brewing the whole pot.

MOST POPULAR FEATURES IN A COFFEE MAKER:

1. Drip brewing

Yes, there are other ways to do it! Over the years, countless methods of making coffee making have been used around the world, and by far the single most popular is DRIP BREWING.

It is fast, needs no monitoring, and does not use an open flame. My hero!

Boiling water is poured into the body of the coffee maker, and basically just soaks After a time, a movable piece is pushed down, trapping the ground coffee and forcing them downward, trapping at the bottom, so the brew can be poured, bean free

Identical to a percolator in method, with no open flame to deal with.

2. Programmable

These units can be set up before you go to bed, and will start the coffee brewing at a time you specify. Nice to wake up to the smell of that savory first cup waiting for you!

3. Built in water filter

Using semi permanent, changeable water filters, ordinary tap water does not affect the flavor of your coffee at all! Manufacturers recommend changing them regularly for best results, usually around 3 months per filter with ordinary use.

4. Pause and serve. This feature allows you to remove the carafe and take a cup before the entire pot is brewed. Usually using a simple spring in the basket, when the pot is removed, the spring descends, and the water is not allowed to drip out of the bottom of the brewing chamber for a minute.

5. “Permanent” coffee filter, this is a hard plastic basket that is inserted into the coffee basket. It comes out for cleaning, and does not need paper liners. rinsing it out can be messy however, and some people prefer to line this basket with paper liners, and then enjoy a double filtered pot of brew.

6. Clock, if you have the program feature, this is naturally a given.

7. Coffee bean grinder, integrated with the coffee maker, grinds just enough of the bean for the amount you are making. Undeniably the freshest, most aromatic way to go, this feature will surely cost you.

8. Thermal, or insulated carafe. If you like to make a batch of coffee and then enjoy it for hours without being bothered with making another, this feature may be for you. The carafe is insulated similarly to a thermos, and after brewing can keep warm up to 3 or 4 hours. Notice however, I said keep warm, not hot. The number one complaint among consumers is that the thermal units do not keep the coffee hot, merely warm.

9 Pod compatible. The newest, and hottes ttype oft home coffee makers are the pod machines. The single cup pod, is inserted into a holder, which is then closed and hot water forced through the contents of the pod, into your waiting cup. Initially seen only commercially, these popular coffee makers are now far more compact, and being able to select from many different “pods” containing a widely diverse variety of coffee, tea, and other hot beverages seems to thrill the overall population. They have come down quite a bit in price lately, however, the pods are not available for purchase everywhere, and these single serving units are very expensive in comparison to the traditional sized and brewed others.

Some standard machines now have the ability to accommodate Pods, and still perform in their originally designed manner. Again, this dual functioned type of coffee maker will cost you.

OKAY, here are the top selling machines of 2011, with pricing and some additional information to help you in selecting your new coffee maker…..

You may be disappointed in me, I know my Mom would be, but in the end I replaced my poor dead Mr. Coffee with another that differed only in that it was black, instead of white. As you all know, I am a notorious cheapskate.

What the food processor does is to chop your food easily and safely. If you love cooking and preparing fresh salads, instead of wasting your time chopping, shredding, blending, or mixing ingredients manually, better get a food processor to do that job for you.

In my early days, I have experienced working and troubleshooting industrial food processors, where they put in sacks of carrots, onions, potatoes, and other various vegetables on this one ‘big mean chopping machine’. They come out either sliced, diced, or chopped finely. The settings are adjusted automatically by computer or with a push of a button. It is quite magical and a big time saver where cooks never cut their ingredients anymore and they just focus on their cooking.

http://www.alard-equipment.com/a-f/z9385.jpg

(An industrial food processor that cuts a large amount of carrot/celery sticks.)

For small consumer food processors, you have to adjust, put some attachment, or change the blade so that you can achieve the desired cutting size or shape.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d1/Food_Processor_2.jpg/250px-Food_Processor_2.jpg

(A consumer food processor used at home )

There are basically two kinds of food processors: Standard and Combo. The standard one may have a large or small bowl sizes depending on your needs (it can be manual or electrically operated also). Combo ones are a combination of blender and food processor in one.

If you plan to buy a food processor, here are some my simple tips:

Go for more Power – a powerful motor is more reliable and you will not have any questionable doubts like “can it grind coffee beans?” This will surely avoid mistakes and accidents if you or someone put an item inside the food processor that is hard to cut. I don’t mean to be harsh but if you cannot settle for a powerful food processor, better settle with the kitchen knife for a while.

Check your Size – Logically, if there is a powerful motor, the bowl sizes or feed tubes are larger. This is better as you will save time and energy cutting all the ingredients in one time.

Your Usage – Will you use your food processor always or not? A lot of people just use their food processor once and just dump it in their cupboard until it gathers dust. So be sure to use the machine always. If not, don’t buy one.

Price – If you cannot settle for the most suitable powerful food processor for your needs, you can opt for cheaper ones, but double check on the quality and warranty offers. But frankly speaking, cheap ones are surely not of good quality (some are manufactured poorly which can cause accidents or spoil your food).

Food Processors Reviews

Cuisinart Stainless Steel Prep 9 Food Processor (4 out of 5 stars)

I like this food processor as it has a large food feeder that feeds whole fruits and vegetables. With a large 9 cup work bowl and a 700 watt motor, it is a dream come true for any person who loves to cook. It even has a spatula, recipe instruction book and DVD – maybe it is a manual on how to use the machine and preparation of some yummy recipes. The accessories are dishwasher safe, and a limited 3 year warranty on the motor to boot. Average price is around $ 160, and I hope you will get the flashy red one.

http://www.cutleryandmore.com/content/products/medium/14278.jpg

Waring Commercial Model FP2200 – 6 Quart Batch Bowl and Continuous Feed Food Processor, 3/4 HP (2 out of 5 stars)

The first thing you will notice about this food processor is the hefty price tag, about $ 1,400. Since the price is expensive, I thought it is the best out there. Sadly it isn’t. There are lots of potential though, especially the multiple accessories (you have to buy it separately, and each one costs about the same as one food processor!). With its 2 blade configuration and ¾ HP motor, it can slice, shred, julienne, mix, purée, chop and even more. But other food processors can do the same on a much cheaper price and with some or all the accessories included. I respect the Waring brand as one of the best when it comes to laboratory equipment and all (they are also in tie up with CONAIR Hair dryers) but this one is just too much. Their other models are also expensive, most of having the price average of $ 500. Let us pass with this for now, hopefully someone sells it on Ebay with a cheaper price.

http://www.waringcommercialproducts.com/product-images/preview/fp2200.jpg

Presto 02910 Food Processor (3 out of 5 stars)

How would you like a food processor for just $ 40 (average price)? Presto! Buy this Presto Food processor. Actually they call it the ‘salad shooter’ and it is quite impressive. It may not be heavy duty or powerful enough to chop all your veggies in one time, but using this device brings a lot smiles to everyone who sees you use it. What it does is it ‘shoots’ out those vegetables after its passes through the slicing or shredding cones. That is good as there are no other additional bowls to clean unlike other food processors with bowl attachments. There is a hassle though, that you have to pre-cut the vegetables so that it will fit on the feeder, and you have to push the food hard to get the desired cutting results. You also have to grip the device firmly to its base handle.

For those geeky cooks, it has a 66 watt, one speed motor, it measures 9-1/2 by 7 by 3-1/2 inches with a five-foot cord. No complicated parts to assemble, only those interchangeable cones to suit your cutting requirements.

Word of caution: You are not allowed to ‘shoot’ tomatoes, meat, cranberries, or use it to grind coffee.

http://image04.bizrate-images.com/resize?sq=475&uid=11546271

KitchenAid 13-cup Food Processor, KFP1333 (5 out of 5 stars)

If you want a food processor that is well received by its users and does its job well, try this KitchenAid 13 Cup Food Processor, KFP1333. The price at Amazon is almost $ 200. It has 13 cups more than enough to process your veggies and garnishes, five attachments, 2 speed, and pulse for precision cutting. It can do almost anything: cut, shred, puree, juliennes, even knead with precision. The bowls and lids are dishwasher safe, BPA-free. It is powered by a DC motor that turns 900 to 1700 rpm, and it weighs 25 pounds. It has a 1 yr replacement warranty. Okay the last one is a minor set-back, but I heard of few food processors get broken easily, except if you grind coffee or shred walnuts every single day.

There are four colors to choose from (white, red, black, and white). Can’t describe more here, just buy one right now!

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51iHnyxj9FL._AA300_.jpg

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41P5-jVhzWL.jpg (close up)

The Breville BFP800XL Sous Chef Food Processor (5 out of 5 stars)

If you are a serious chef, here is another recommendation, the Breville Sous Chef BFP800XL. The price is around $ 370 at Amazon.

What are you paying for really is the powerful induction motor can churn out 1,200 watts! And this is almost a standard spec in food processors used in most restaurants. I do like the safety features where the unit will not operate if the lids, bowls or any accessories are not properly installed. The plug even has a ‘ring’ where you remove it by inserting your finger. The cord is also retractable for proper storage. It even has a brush for cleaning all the blades and discs – the manufacturer recommended to hand-wash the bowls and lids. This is good, probably they have learned this for their experience within the food industry.

What will you do with a 1,200 watt motor? I say its chopping heaven. It has a variable slicing disc with 24 settings which can cut produce from 0.3mm to 8 mm. Using the 16 cup bowl and the ‘S’ blade, you can cut almost anything through your heart’s content.

Breville is also confident about their unit that they are putting a 25 year warranty on their motor, and a 1 yr replacement warranty. So again, If you are a serious chef, this one is a must have.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41cEL%2B3ObaL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

Moulinex Ovatio 3 AAT7R4 Duo Food Processor, 3 Litre Food Processor Bowl, 1.5 Litre Blender Bowl (1 out of 5 stars)

Honestly, the first brand that comes into our mind when it comes to food processors is Moulinex. I still remember that amber colored pitcher of our early blender, and the noise that it makes. We surely enjoyed those mango puree during summer.

But now, this French company has been bankrupt, and they do not manufacture a lot of units these . They have some new products on their website, like the Masterchef, Odacio, or the Adventio. But upon close observation, the materials used are plain cheap.

This Ovatio here is a combo (combination of blender and food processor sharing one motor). And I have found some comments from the users that it cannot crush ice properly, or simply that it is hard to clean (quite obvious as there are lots of accessories).

I haven’t seen any Moulinex units here in the US, but in the UK and Asia Pacific, they are still marketing their products there. And if you got one as a present. Be ready to give space on your cupboard as this machine is bulky.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41S9G6CRHJL._SS500_.jpg

Mondial Premium Mini Food Processor (2 out of 5 stars)

This quirky little food processor can ‘pulse cut’ all your garnishes and vegetables, perfect for salsa dips, salsas, and for simple cutting or shredding. The reason why I said ‘pulse’ because it is the only control available. This is located at the top just like a buzzer (Be very careful with this, you may accidentally cut your fingers here!). It is made of cheap plastic, except the bowl. Not a good buy if you want this to be your everyday chopper.

There is not too much features for this $ 12 device. The bowl capacity is 1.5 cups and it weighs 1.7 pounds.

I looked at its specifications and I found out that it is 1800 watt countertop oven. A countertop oven allows the hot air to circulate inside with the use of concealed fans. This is what I am looking for because I want an oven that can circulate heat evenly.

I also like its preset functions. There is no need for me to search the web of the cooking book for the exact temperature of different kinds of food.

And because it has smart features, it can direct the heating elements to the exact area that it is needed. And it has an artificial memory that remembers my personal preferences or my previous saved adjustments.

You might want to consider the pros and cons of this product.

Pros:

Great features

Fully automatic inside and out

Complete preset functions

Independent and accurate heat distributions

Can digitally store personal preferences

Cons:

Too expensive

Complexity on controls (can be very confusing at first)

To wrap things up, this product is awesome. I find it to be the most innovative toaster oven. It has state of the art and latest technology. Digitally powered and perfectly engineered to fit my taste.

I would personally recommend this product to people like me who loves cooking and eating. It will completely revolutionize your cooking world.

Cuisinart TOB-195 Exact Heat Toaster Oven Broiler, Stainless Review

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/411M274BWmL.jpg

I am looking for the toaster oven that has a huge space and can cook almost all the food that I like. I am looking for oven that has two powerful burners that can cook large type of food and I mean huge enormous food, like a broiler and some stuffs like that. So when I looked at this oven it hits me right on the spot. I can already imagine a huge 12 inch pizza being cooked inside. Men! How I love the space inside it’s like a big dome. So I looked at the product features and here’s what I got.

Product Features

I got a 6-slice convection toaster oven broiler with 0.6-cubic-foot capacity

There is a Pizza/bake, broil, toast, and convection; bagel, reheat, and defrost buttons

I got a shade control with heat sensor that maintains precise oven temperature

I got an electronic touchpad controls; clock and oven timers and easy-to-clean interior

It measures 16 by 17-3/4 by 9-5/8 inches; with a 3-year limited warranty

Product specifications

With this kind of features I can cook my favorite pizzas with enormous sizes. Pizza is one of my personal favorite, but I’m not a member of the Ninja Turtles, I just love pizza. I can also cook chicken, and I mean whole chicken because it has broiling capacity and I can put six slices of bread inside, all at the same time. What a remarkable piece of equipment, and because it is a convection toaster, heat are being distributed evenly inside the oven. That means all parts are cooked and not just the top or the side part. It has heat sensors and maintains a controlled temperature on whatever I wish to cook. Its stainless steel body is dashing and elegant and because it is stainless steel it is easy to clean.

Pros:

Completely revolutionized my cooking experience

Great and huge space inside

Nice touch pad controls

Latest technology and high quality engineering

Precise oven temperature on a precise food or item

Easy to clean body part.

Cons:

It’s pretty expensive for those who are in a budget

The stainless steel surface gets hot easily on the process of cooking so you need to be careful on those or else you get burned. I get that all the time on stainless steel heating equiptments.

To come to a halt for all these, this product complete passed my personal preferences. Since I like to cook big, for me this product has it all. I would definitely recommend this to people who love to stay in the kitchen to cook and eat. But you need to watch out for calories and cholesterol they can be dangerous.

If you are interested in having more complicated and sophisticated features, then you will not be satisfied with this. But as for me, this ok, because what I want is a simple one.

As a summary this oven works great and I would consider buying this and would recommend this with my friends. I trust the brand so I would recommend this and try it myself since I am on a low budget.

Nothing is more relaxing and more energizing for me than to have a cup of coffee. The aroma of a strong and sweet taste of the coffee is nice especially in the morning. That is why I appreciate the work of the coffee maker. Before we only have an electric heater, so it takes a little more time to heat the water and make a coffee. Now that I have the coffee maker, I can make coffee faster.

Since this product is exposed to coffee and water most of the time, I realized that this product is susceptible to dirt and coffee stains. Like this one over here.

http://coffeelovers2.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-clean-your-coffee-maker.html

Or this one…

http://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotos-g58101-w2-Radford_Virginia.html#35631258

Now that is one ugly coffee maker I have ever seen. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t want to drink a coffee from either one of these. So I decided to clean my coffee maker before it becomes worst.

Before I go a little further I have to prepare the things that I need.

Bleach

http://www.cleansweepsupply.com/pages/item-kikbleach4.html

White vinegar

Good for cleaning plastic materials and removing water stains

http://nailfungustreatmentscure.com/natural-home-remedies-white-vinegar-for-toenail-fungus/

Water

http://brainz.org/news/tap-water-in-31-us-cities-contains-carcinogen-hexavalent-chromium/4312/

Cleaning rags

http://menucoverman.com/microfiber-cloths.html

Paper towel

http://cheskalacson.blogspot.com/2011/05/four-brands-of-paper-towels-i-have.html

The first thing that I would do is to set up the solution. First I will mix two part water with one part vinegar as my cleaning solution for the portions that are made of plastic.

http://www.chemistryland.com/CHM107Lab/Exp10_pHindicator/Lab/PreparingCabbageExtract.html

Now that the solution is done, I will put the solution in the reservoir of the coffee maker. Then I will turn it on and let it run as it used to be.

http://thecouponproject.com/2011/08/how-to-clean-with-vinegar.html

After I do this I will put clean cold water and rinse the inside of the reservoir, but before I do that I’ll make sure that the machine cools down in order to avoid damage.

After the rinse, I would then check of there are some stains left, then I will repeat the process until it becomes clean and clear. After which I will wipe the reservoir with a clean paper towel or a cleaning rug that has never been used. But for me, in order to be safe I will use a nice sheet of paper towel.

http://mrcali.edu.glogster.com/false-3586/

Now that my coffee maker reservoir is clean I will then wipe some solutions on the other part of the coffee maker.

http://vikingcoffeemaker.net/

After all the stains and the spill marks are gone, I will rinse it with a wet cleaning rag that is soaked or dipped in the water. Then I will wipe it with another cleaning rag that is clean and dry, and allow the surface to dry.

For the coffee maker decanter or carafe, I will wash it in the soapy water together with the filter basket. I would prefer to wash it manually than putting it in a dishwasher. The intense heat of the dishwasher will break the carafe.

http://www.coffeeproductreviews.com/category/coffee-maker-reviews/

http://www.coffeesnoop.com/accessories-coffee-machines.html

If the carafe is very dirty, I will use a bleach to remove the stains inside. Wash it and rinse it very well with water then wipe it with a clean paper towel.

http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-clean-a-coffee-pot-with-lemon

For the finishing touches, I will then check if there are some marks or dirt that I have missed on the process of cleaning. I will wipe it again with a clean cloth and then its coffee time again.
